What PDF to PNG does

PDF to PNG renders each page of a PDF as a lossless PNG image, which keeps text and line art crisper than JPG.

PNG is the right choice when the page is mostly text, diagrams, charts or line art. Because it is lossless, letterforms and thin lines stay clean instead of picking up the smeared halos that JPG compression leaves around high-contrast edges.

Each page is rendered exactly as a viewer would draw it and encoded as a PNG. Thumbnails let you check the result first; several pages download together as a .zip.

How to use PDF to PNG

PDF to PNG: details and limits

• PNG is lossless, so text and diagrams stay sharp with no compression artefacts. The trade-off is a larger file than JPG for photo-heavy pages.

• Standard is roughly 108 DPI and High roughly 216 DPI.

• Pick PNG for documents, screenshots, charts and anything with small text. Pick JPG for scanned photographs, where the file will be far smaller for the same apparent quality.

• This captures the whole page. Extract Images instead pulls out the individual photographs embedded in the PDF.
