What Word to PDF does

Word to PDF converts a .docx document into a PDF with real, selectable text — rebuilding the layout from the document’s content rather than photographing the pages.

A .docx is a zip of XML that describes your document as a flow of headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and images. That structure is exactly what turns into a clean PDF: the file is unzipped and read in your browser, its content is mapped to a page layout, and a PDF is generated with a genuine text layer you can select, copy and search.

This is deliberately not the screenshot approach the HTML to PDF tool has to fall back on. Because the text is real embedded glyphs, the PDF stays sharp at any zoom and works with find-in-page — at the cost of not being a pixel-perfect clone of how Word paginates. Body text, headings, bold and italic, bullet and numbered lists, embedded images and simple tables all carry over.

Step by step

How to use Word to PDF

  1. Upload a .docx file

Drop in a Word .docx document. Old .doc files aren’t supported — save them as .docx in Word or Google Docs first.

  2. Choose a page size

Pick A4 or Letter for the output pages.

  3. Convert and download

Click Convert to PDF. The document is rebuilt into a PDF on your device and downloads automatically.

Details & limits

Word to PDF: details and limits

  • The layout is rebuilt from your document’s content, not cloned from Word. Headers, footers, footnotes and exact page breaks won’t carry over, and complex or merged-cell tables reflow to fit the page rather than matching Word’s grid.

  • The embedded font covers Latin, Latin Extended (including Vietnamese and Polish), Greek and Cyrillic, so Russian, Greek and most European documents render as real text. Chinese, Japanese, Korean and other complex scripts are not covered and may show as blank boxes — bundling a font for them would add several megabytes to the tool.

  • The text stays real and selectable, so the PDF is searchable and copyable — unlike an image-based conversion.

  • Only the modern .docx format is read. A legacy .doc file is turned away with a clear message rather than producing a broken result.
