What Scan to PDF does
Scan to PDF captures pages with your device camera (or existing photos) and combines them into a single PDF, entirely on your device.
A phone camera is a document scanner most people already carry. Scan to PDF turns it into one without an app: capture each page, arrange them, and get a PDF back — with the crucial difference that free scanner apps upload your documents, and this one never does.
The camera feed is shown live in the page and each capture is drawn to a canvas and kept as an image, all in the browser. You can reorder or drop pages, add existing photos from your device to the same document, and choose whether each page hugs its photo or sits on an A4 or Letter sheet. The pages are assembled into a PDF with pdf-lib and downloaded — nothing is streamed or stored anywhere.
How to use Scan to PDF
Start the camera
Allow camera access and point it at the first page — or use Add photos to pick images already on your device.
Capture each page
Click Capture for every page. Thumbnails appear below; reorder them with the arrows or remove any you don’t want.
Create the PDF
Choose Fit to photo, A4 or Letter, then click Create PDF to download the combined document.
Scan to PDF: details and limits
The camera stream is processed entirely in your browser — frames are captured to images and assembled locally. Nothing is streamed to a server, which is exactly what separates this from scanner apps that upload.
Each page is a photo, so the result is an image-based PDF: the text is not selectable or searchable. Run OCR PDF on the result if you need to select or search the text.
Camera access needs a secure connection and your permission; if there’s no camera or you decline, the Add photos option still lets you build the PDF from existing images. Capture quality depends on lighting and a steady hand, just like any camera scan.
